Launched this May 2008 in India the all new Honda Accord 2008 eight Generation which replaced Honda Accord 2007 here in India. The new Accord 2008 will be offered in India with three variants Accord 2.4, Accord 2.4 Elegance and Accord 2.4 Inspire.

New Honda Accord was launched in 2007 in US.  Since the launch of New Honda Accord in US, the Honda accord seventh generation sales were seriously affected as Indian customers started waiting for eighth generation launch in India. Hence Seventh Generation sales were halted in December 2007.


The new eighth generation now comes with larger wheel base, a better engine. The length and width of the car is also increased by 80mm and 25mm.  Honda Accord is the only premium car sold in India by Honda. And by far was most successful car in its segment.

So can new Honda Accord 2008 eighth generation can make similar success or will give even better position to Honda in the premium segment? Well, lets find out together.

The Outer - The Design
The front of the eighth generation Honda Accord now looks bigger, more muscular and appealing.  The design of new accord , right from face ie. front makes it distinctive and it clearly looks like Global design. However, I also liked design of seventh generation Accord , according to me, that was simple yet beautiful. But new Accord is even better in term of design and if I do not talk about its distinctive front grill then its incomplete. The front grill, all nickel finish with six sides and then nicely placed honda logo on it. Then  its new wider headlamp. Adds more distinguished looks.


The Tail area of Honda accord looks more similar to previous model, though it feels quite good looking but may have more refined to match front   as front is all new. But it doesn't mean that back / tail has something wrong. Its quite good and I think its just my personal view about front and tail matching.


As said earlier the new Honda Accord is little bigger in size than earlier one. The length and width of the car is increased by 80mm and 25mm.  This gives it wider wheelbase which means better stability.  Overall sporty and elegant look.

The innner - The Interiors
The interior of this luxury car has been increased a little as compared to the older one.  Interior includes host of luxurious features including eight way power seat adjustment. It has lumbar support.  The tilt and telescopic steering wheels, steering wheel mounted audio controls. Bluetooth Connectivity, rear air vents to provide better ventilation and climate control. It has 6 cd changer audio system with a quality speaker system.


The dashboard with new design looks cool and hosts a lots of buttons. The audio controls are mounted on steering wheel along side climate control. The interior has touch of wood finish at places and with wise use , it makes it look quite stylish and forms a pleasant look as well as making it look even more spacious.

The Powersource - The Engine

Powered by a 2.4l i-VTEC engine the eighth generation Accord is E10 (10 per cent ethanol and 90 per cent unleaded petrol) compatible, this engine gives power around 181 PS which is higher than old Accord. Though the changes in engine are derived by the refinement made in engine without changing the displacement. With some good high end torque, this engine is responsive and delivers the required power to this heavy luxury machine.

The machine is equipped with Five Speed automatic and manual transmission with unique paddle shift. This one is similar which we find in Honda Civic Automatic.

Hence the power from new engine is enhanced because of the engine abilities as well as with the use of better aerodynamics and improved design.


The Others
The other area of refinement are improved chassis and new frame rail system. The suspensions are also improved. Now it is with new double wishbone with stabilizer bar front suspension  and the rear suspension are independent multi link. Honda accord has various steering ratio mechanism. All this makes New Honda Accord more manoeuvrable despite bigger size. Its better in handling then its predecessor.

As with its older counterpart, this machine is all set to rule the segment.
