I have been having some strange issues of late with my BSNL broadband connection.

Most sites so not open, even the popular ones like Yahoo mail, gmail, google etc.

These sites show up with "hostgator" pages.

I think this has to do with some DNS settings. If anyone can shed some light on this it would be great.

I use the modem in a PPPOE mode. the modem is this "RT" something model. I forget the make. It is square shaped and creamy white in color.

use the following dns and have no problems at all

61.1.96.69
61.1.96.71I was also using these DNS since 2 years, but since a month or so they were not working. I had posted about it also here, And people had also posted the alternatives as reeDNS etc. BSNL had changed theDNS, please search for that post .
Make your pr DNS as 218.248.255.145 and see if it works.

I too happened to face similar problem and then I figured out that best way is to use OpenDNS. Bsnl's domain name server are not capable hence it fails to serve.
I wrote an article on it :
You can find it at : Use Open DNS to solve BSNL dataone problem

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
