What I am going to share is very simple yet effective way to keep yourself safe from many virus and unwanted software. Usually when external devices are connected to your computer then simply they use OPEN command for autorun. It sounds good and infact almost all software installation CD / DVD uses same but in case of USB flash drives, it is easy way for virus to spread.
Via autorun they get themselves executed and infect a system and if the are relatively new then make it hard for your antivirus software to detect it.

So best way to stop Autorun, I also wanted to stop Autorun because most of the time I know I don't want the CD / DVD to autoplay but still it annoys.

So here is method one 1

Goto Start -->  Run and type :
      [/list]
      Code:
      gpedit.msc

You will be presented with Group Policy editor..
      Now goto :
Computer Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> System
While you click on system, in right window you will find something : Turn off Autoplay
      See the image below :

Double click "Turn off Autoplay", enable it and from drop down, select for "All drives" and Press OK.
      See the image below:

      Another Method:
There is another method too which will be easier if you are willing to install tweakUI.
You can download it from here.
      It provides various stuff.
To disable it via tweakUI, first install it and then Goto (in Tweak UI)
      My computer --> Autoplay

There you can disable / enable it per device or for all drives.

      Thats it Smiley
