I recently updated my AVG antivirus software from version 7.5 to version 8 and I found that my computer is very slow now. Start up is damn slow and also working on computer feels as if I need new computer! Sad

    I have P4 3.0 GHz HT with 1 GB of RAM .
And I don't think its slow!
    is it ?

its the best i have ever used i tries almost all antivirus softwares which includes NOD32,KASPERSKY,NORTON,MCAFFE,AVG,AVAST,BITDEFENDER,ETRUST
(ca assocaites) but i feel avira is the best.
it has fast scanner, fast updates, low computer usage.
kaspersky is also good but only if you have paid for ot.

ya sometimes avira's server is busy you can download the virus updates file then from the following link
    http://www.avira.com/en/support/vdf_update.html
it will be rar file. there is no need to unrar it.
just open avira click on top taskbar on updates.
click on manual updates just open the updates file in it your antivirus will be updated in seconds.

Installing multiple antivirus software on single system is never recommended . It can even cause both of the software to not work properly.
Best practice is to install some single antivirus software and also a good firewall as I suggested once in tutorial. Go for comodo and keep track of every activity on your computer !
