As promised Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer has launched its luxury sedan R8 priced at Rs 1.17 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). You might have seen its huge advertisements in new paper already.

The Audi R8 4.2 V8-FSI is equipped with an engine displacement of 4,163 cc, a power output of 309 kW (420 hp) at 7,800 rpm and a maximum torque 430 Nm between 4,500 and 6,000 rpm. The Audi R8 can attain a top speed of 301 km/h with 0-100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.

The 420-horsepower vehicle has permanent all-wheel drive and an aluminium frame. The car will compete with the Porsche Carrera S, which costs Rs 86 lakh.

Like most other Audi models in India, the sports car, sporting a 4.2-litre V8-FSI petrol engine, is imported from Germany.

Audi, which has dealers in Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Ludhiana, Chennai and Kochi, plans to open five more next year, including one in Calcutta. The company has sold 884 units between January and October this year against 292 units last year. It aims to sell about 1,000 units in the next calendar year
