India's first Hyprid car from carmaker Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) now gets cheaper as  on Wednesday slashed the price of its eco-friendly sedan, Civic Hybrid, to Rs13.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) from Rs21.50 lakh earlier for a limited period, till December this year.

Company said that we took this step to popularize the Hybrid in country. While there were many people interested but huge difference between CIVIC normal and CIVIC Hybrid put them in doubt.  Most the people were not able to buy it because of its very high price tag.

Now the company will take the extra expenses and shall provide Hybrid to customer on subsidiary basis for the limited time. It means prices are slashed for only limited period and after that company may ask higher for same model.

Till last month, the company sold 60 units of the ‘Civic Hybrid’. Sen said HSCI, which is constructing its second plant in Tapukara in Rajasthan, is having a review of its investment plans keeping in mind the current market slowdown.
“We have already invested Rs600 crore in the first phase out of the committed Rs1,000 crore at the plant. The remaining amount is supposed to be invested for car assembly, which we are reviewing now,” he said. The company was analysing the market situation before going ahead, Sen added.

Well.. its company who is trying to popularize their Hybrid Civic in India by taking some short term losses. I guess it will get costlier again as soon as Honda get their purpose fulfilled.

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
