Yamaha Motor India is to usethe 'DiASil' (die-casting Aluminum-Silicon) technology the Indian market, to be used in the new 150cc YZF-R15 bike, which will be launched later this year.

The YZF-R15 was unveiled at the Auto Expo in January here. "Developed in 2002 by Yamaha Motor Co, the DiASil technology uses an all-aluminum die-cast cylinder with 60 per cent better cooling performance and 30 per cent cheaper production cost than a conventional cylinder," it said.

YZF-15 will surely make a buzz in market when it will get launched.
Earlier I think Yamaha had some stupid taking care of Indian market.

This bike will be of 150 cc, with 6 gears and will be priced at 85-90k and the look is too good (as seen in pics only). Do you think it will be able take on the 200-220 cc bike categories???

No, it is simply for the 150cc segment and yes, in that segment it will create some fuzz but real can been seen only when it will get launched.

What they are trying to do is to cash upon the popularity of their higher counterpart ie. Yamaha YZR R1 .. you can see that its YZF-15 is clearly inspired from R1

yeah..the design is surely inspired by R1. But I think the 150cc categories are budget conscious as well...they would rather get pricked price tag than to know why the price is so high...but of course the design would woo people who have always fantasized R1. Then again that number will be far less!!
