Seems that cable cut undersea at Egypt Coast is causing chaos all over India. Even I am affected, I can see that few websites are lagging too much and few are normal. Reason might that those who rely only middle east route are suffering and those who are routed from other destination are fine.

Various news site are reporting it as follows :
Quote
Internet speeds have slowed to a crawl in much of the Middle East and parts of South Asia after two underwater telecommunications cables were damaged Wednesday in the Mediterranean Sea. The problems are also affecting telephone service in some places, and many businesses are struggling to work around the outages. VOA Correspondent Challiss McDonough has more from Cairo.

Now India is on half of the original bandwidth and traffic is being re-routed through other routes.

India on Thursday struggled to overcome internet slowdowns and outages, which came after two undersea cables off the coast of Egypt were damaged.

Outsourcing firms, such as Infosys and Wipro, and US companies with significant back-office and research and development operations in India, such as IBM and Intel, said they were still trying to asses how their operations had been impacted, if at all.

Rajesh Chharia, the president of the Internet Service Providers' Association of India, said companies that serve the east coast of the US and Britain had been badly hit.

It is said that it will take around 1 week to fix this issue.

PS: Post if you noticed this slowdown at your end too.

The  Khalee Times  Egypt has dismissed any idea of a boat accidently cutting these cables.  The ministry’s maritime transport committee reviewed footage covering the period of 12 hours before and 12 hours after the cables were cut and no ships sailed the area.
Only Iran is completely without internet access, the rest f the world seems to be coping ok.
I find this rather worrying.
