Chak De! India, which gave Shah Rukh Khan yet another Filmfare trophy, also scored high in the technical category by bagging the honours for Best Action(Rob Miller), Best Editing(Amitabh Shukla) and Best Cinematography(Sudeep Chatterjee).

Mani Ratnam’s Guru, loosely based on the life of Dhirubhai Ambani, picked up fie awards: While A R Rahman scored a double Whammy with Best Music and Best Background Score.

The Surprise hit of 2007, Jab We Met, which gave a fillip to Kareena Kapoor’s Career, won its director Imtiaz Ali a statue for Best Dialogue. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s elaborate Saawariya may have disappointed the critics but at filmfare it got leading man Ranbir Kapoor his first award as Best Debutant(Male). The films mucis won Monty sharma the RD Burman Award for his lilting score; and it also got Shaan the Best Playback Singer(Male) for the Melodious Jab Se Tere Naina.

Anurag Basu’s offbeat Life in a Metro, with its Parellel stories, won the film maker a trophy for the Best Screenplay; Konkana Sen Sharma and Irfan Khan’s walked away with the best actress and Best Actor in a supporting role for their endearing performances.

Deepika Padukone, won the Best Debutante(Female) award.
