Synopsis: Teen Patti: A Euqtion that changes all Equations


Set in India and England, and starring two of the greatest living acting legends of our times , Amitabh Bachchan and Academy Awards Winner Ben Kingsley - Teen Patti is an emotionally riveting and razor sharp thriller about greed, deception and giant feats of imagination.  

Ben Kingsley, who essays Perci Trachtenberg, widely regarded as the word's greatest living mathematician, meets Venkat, played by Amitabh Bachchan, a reclusive math genius from India, at a high rolling casino in London. Venkat tells Perci about an equation that could not only change the dialogue on mathematics forever, but one that has already left an indelible impression of guilt - for many painful reasons - on Venkat's life.

A movie by Leena Yaadav, with Ace actors like Amitabh Bachan and Sir Ben Kensley seen on the big screen for the very first time. (Amitabh Bachan )Venkat is a mathematician who has cracked a theory that could redefine the principles pf probability and randomness. He is encouraged by Shantanu( Madhavan) who is an ambitious young professor. To check out the theory, both professors take help from their students and experiment their theory in the gambling dens of Mumbai, what just started as an innocent Teen Patti (poker) game, becomes dangerous as the Cash starts poring in and they are further pulled into the web of the game. One student commits suicide and their lives sink into maddening chaos, the greed and desperation that had fueled them on can no longer save them.

Its an intelligent movie made with brilliant actors like Amitabh and Madhava along with Sir Ben who you will watch performing together with ease on their characters be it Venkat the mathematics professor who could change the equation of mathematics forever as told by him to Sir Ben in one of the high paying Casino in London or Madhavan who plays the role of a charismatic and ambitious young professor to perfection. The new comers to make heir presence felt, Siddharth, Shraddha ,Vaibhav and Dhruv get to show their talent and even though its heir first movie, they are oozing confidence that comes from many years of experience. Hats off to Leena Yadav to direct  them so convincingly. Ajay Devgan, Javkie Shroff , Tinu Anand and Shakti Kapoor have special appearance in the film. Raima Sen has acted fine and Barry John is first-rate. Anjan Srivastava is good. Mahesh Manjrekar is effective.

Now the story of the movie and the theory is one which may not be understood by an average movie goers. It is a brainy movie and you need your brains if you want to understand it to the fullest. Also some scenes take you on the high and some are just there and leave no effect. The pace of the movie is fine and the music already has a chart buster with “teri neeyat kharab hai” given by Salim-Suleman. The dancer is a gorgeous Brazillian model with all the sexy curves and moves. The choreography is superb and Ashley Lobo deserves an applaud for it.

On he whole the movie is watchable due to the effective performances and intelligent script in it. Also two legends of our time Amitabh Bachan and Sir Ben are acting together. One thing is for certain you will not regret if you have watched the film.
