Ishqiya: Movie synopsis and review

Directed by debutant Abhishek Chaubey and produced by Vishal Bhardwaj and Raman Maroo "Ishqiya" is a story of romance between individuals caught in a web of crime, suspense, passion, and deceit.

Two thieves, Khalujan(Nasiruddin shah) and Babban(Arshad Warsi), are on the run from their boss, Mushtaq(Salman Shahid). They seek refuge with an old friend, and instead meet his widow, Krishna(Vidya Balan).
This story has two men in love with the same woman and this simple looking gao ki gori is two timing both the uncle and nephew who have fallen for her. Khallu is a romantic person and has done a terrific job.  Arshad has some seductive sceans with Vidya and after Lage  raho Munna Bhai, this is one of his mentionable performances. As for Vidya, this girl has it in her to surprise the viewers with the class act that she has performed. As soon as the movie starts, you are hooked into the life’s of the characters and after an hour into the movie, the twists and turns make you grasp. The film has this quality of surprising you and you will soon start to think as to how it will end.  Vidya has the main role and she excels herself and looks beautiful even in a simple saree with almost no make up. I won’t be surprised if she were to be nominated for the best actress award. Arshad as the kohl-lined-eyed Babban with a "Surma Bhopali" kind of accent is spectacular. Naseeruddin Shah is everything an actor aspires to be. And he has just proved his mettle with Ishqiya. A gone case romantic, hopelessly in love with the wrong girl, his ways of wooing Krishna are hilarious to say the least.

The lyrics of the film are also a plus point of it and “dil to bacha hai ji” and “ ibne batuta” are already a raving hit. The film has a good story line and moves at an easy pace and is only about 2 hours long. It is one which you will easily love to watch and get some splendid dialogue delivery as well.
Rann to has released this week and that to is a movie to look out for. So do plan out on the weekend and catch both the movies if you can.
