Seems that Channel war is still hot, but being National channel, Doordarshan got rights to broadcast All worldcup matches in which India will play.

Worldcup is starting on 13 march 2o07 in West Indies and if India happens to enter the super 8 or further then DD is supposed to broadcast else no Worldcup for people who have reach to DD1 only.

It is also expected that it will also broadcast few other important matches but not sure which type.

Now Govt. is planning to make it mandatory that Doordarshan will get rights always to telecast games and other events of national importants.
It means that whether they have paid high or not but still they will get it to broadcast.

It is OK but DD should upgrade the equipments first to make a good show. Even the local football games are telecast so casually! Also the DD staffers are to be trained to handle  World Cup matches for Cricket & Football. Even the last Olypmic games at Beizing were shown so so.We had to change the channel for a better view.Hence the apprehension. DD has to beWorld Class himsel f first !---  A K Bhattacharya
