Investing in stock market should or buying share is easy but patience must be there.
Anyways, going straight to your question.. if going simple then..

First you need to have a PAN card then  simply goto any good broker .. say Reliance Money or some bank like ICICI and ask them to open trading and demat account. .Usually they are cheap to open.

Now you need some money to invest, you start with small amount, say Rs. 10000 or may be Rs. 5000, deposit it with the company ie. broker. Now you can buy some stock out of it.

You may go for Day trading or for investment, Day trading means, buying and selling on same day and investment means long term share holding. You should not for  day trading until you do not get good idea about market. Rest is upon you.

Always take some time in learning before starting real investment. You may also hire professional adviser who can tell you what to invest and where etc.

PAN is alloted by Indian Income Tax Dept.
You can get a form from Income tax office nearby you and fill it up. Deposit as or send as instructed on form and you will, in few days receive your PAN card. This will be use to track all your financial stuff and also to file income tax return.

    Rahul,

Trading is business and career. You need to learn it as you do to learn like engineering and pharmacy. It requires time and money as input and when you become good the output is a lot of time and lot of money.

I found with newbie in trading they want opposite they do not want to provide input but just want lot of output. So do not fall for this when you are just starting.
